"We have been monitoring the use of Old Town Library since the move to the Arts Centre, and the figures are encouraging :
"The number of books borrowed in Oct - Dec 2010 was 5,453, an increase of 24% on the same period in 2009
"The biggest incease in borrowing has been in children's books, which are up 44%
"The number of people joining the library has also increased by 193% with 44 new members in the period October - December compared to 15 in the same period last year.
"These figures, combined with the positive comments we have received are early indications that this new approach to service delivery in libraries has the potential to be successful in the long term at perhaps at other libraries.
"The cooperation, goodwill and hard work of both Library and Arts Centre staff have been crucial in making this a success so far."
